Do you cover my area?

We work out of Waddon, so Croydon and the CR postcodes are home ground: Purley, Coulsdon, Sanderstead, Selsdon, Shirley, Kenley and Riddlesdown. West of that we go out to Sutton and Banstead, south to Caterham and Woldingham, and east and north into the BR and SW postcodes: Bromley, Beckenham, Streatham and Wimbledon. Can you board up a broken window tonight?

Usually. Ring the mobile rather than the office if it is outside working hours. We aim to make a property safe the same day where we can, and if we cannot get to you we will say so on the call. You are better off knowing than waiting. Boarding up is the first step; the proper glass gets measured, ordered and fitted after. See emergency glazing.

My double glazing has gone cloudy. Does the whole window need replacing?

Almost never. Misting means the seal on the glass unit has failed, and that unit is a separate item from the frame it sits in. We measure it, order a replacement to the same size and spec, and swap it into the existing frame. The frame, hinges and handles all stay put. See misted unit replacement.

How much will it cost?

It depends on the size of the pane, the type of glass and how easy the opening is to reach, so we are not going to pretend there is a price list. Send a photo and a rough measurement and we can usually give you a ballpark on the phone before anyone gets in a van.

Do you do commercial work as well as houses?

Yes. Shop fronts, communal entrance screens, office partitions and the doors that take a hammering all day. Shop front glass is often a same-day board-up followed by a toughened replacement once the size is confirmed and the glass has been made.

Who actually turns up?
